Research

The core mandate of NEWI’s research sector is to scientifically ascertain why different activities are implemented and to inform other sectors on any remedial measures and/or improvements that ought to be made. Research studies conducted by NEWI are therefore evidence based hence the ultimate goal of the research team is to promote provision of evidence-based interventions by the rest of the sectors.

  • Of primary focus are research studies on key health, economic empowerment, food security and environmental conservation issues with the aim of designing and implementing programs to benefit vulnerable populations in Kenya (especially the children, adolescent, women and the elderly) with minimal harm.

Objectives of NEWI’S Research Sector

  • Ensuring commitment to high quality, transparent and evidence based research practice within the organization
  • Ensuring protection of the dignity, right and safety of human research participants

NEWI has set research guidelines which provide for a road-map and standards when conducting or initiating any study across the organizational thematic areas while ensuring all the ethical standards as per NACOSTI are upheld.

NEWI uses technology and ICT4D in conducting research, data management, analysis and dissemination of key findings.

NEWI’S research studies are conducted in partnership with the community, institutions of higher learning, research organizations, NGOs and the government.
